At the foot of the château's ancient walls, where the Loue bends through limestone and forest, vines have returned to the land. The Domaine Viticole du Château de Roche is a young estate with deep roots – a winemaking project born from the conviction that this terroir, shaped by centuries of human presence, deserves a voice of its own.

Les Vignes du Château

40 ares · Pinot Noir
The historic heart of the estate. Planted directly below the château enclosure in the area known as le Puits, these vines benefit from the sheltered microclimate of the château grounds and the deep limestone soils that define the Jura's eastern edge. First planted in 2020, first harvest in 2025.

La Laiterie

36 ares · Pinotage
Behind the old dairy building, thirty-six ares of Pinotage on Gravesac rootstock – a deliberate experiment. This South African cross of Pinot Noir and Cinsault is virtually unknown in the Jura, but its parentage and resilience make it a compelling candidate for these soils. Planted in 2020, it will enter production in 2027.

Champagne-sur-Loue

20 ares · Chardonnay
On the opposite bank, destined for the estate's white wine programme. Also approaching maturity for 2027.

Liesle

30 ares · Complantation
A living archive of Jura viticulture. Chardonnay, Savagnin, Trousseau, Poulsard and Gamay – whites and reds interplanted in the old tradition. Some of these vines are ungrafted, growing on their own roots in limestone that has so far resisted phylloxera. In 2025, three hundred Pinot Gris vines were added as hautes tiges, trained high in the traditional Jura manner – delaying bud break and keeping fruit above the frost line. A further five ares of Pinot Gris haute tige will be planted in 2026.

Buffard

40 ares · Pinot Noir & Chardonnay
Established vines dominated by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with plantings of Trousseau and Gamay. Acquired in 2025, this site immediately contributed to the estate's first full vintage.

CUVÉES 2025

The inaugural vintage produced five cuvées from approximately 1,570 litres – small quantities, vinified with care in oak tonneau and stainless steel cuve.

Cuvée Joseph
Pinot Noir · Château de Roche
The estate's flagship. Pure Pinot Noir from the château vineyard, vinified in tonneau. A wine of place above all – the first expression of vines rooted in the château's own ground.

Cuvée Rouge
Assemblage · Buffard & Liesle
A field blend of Pinot Noir, Trousseau, Poulsard and Gamay – capturing the Jura tradition of assemblage from mixed plantings. Each variety brings its own temperament; together they speak of the hillside.

Cuvée Chardonnay
Chardonnay · Buffard
Vinified in both tonneau and cuve to balance richness with freshness. The Buffard terroir lends structure; the winemaking aims for precision and length.

Cuvée Blanc
Assemblage Blanc · Liesle
Shaped by the old vines' own diversity, where Chardonnay and Savagnin find their natural equilibrium. A wine that reflects the complexity of complantation – no two rows quite alike.

Cuvée Bulle
Crémant · Liesle & Buffard
The estate's effervescence – a crémant blending fruit from both sites into something bright and convivial.

PHILOSOPHIE

The wines of Château de Roche are made to belong here – to accompany the table, the conversation, and the landscape from which they come. The guiding principle is one the French have always understood: ce qui pousse ensemble, se marie ensemble – what grows together, goes together. As the estate matures – as the Pinotage reaches bearing age, as the Pinot Gris hautes tiges take hold in the limestone of Liesle, as the Chardonnay at Champagne-sur-Loue finds its voice – each vintage will deepen the dialogue between this place and its wines.
